Creating a fantasy late night supper for Jazz Icons, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts was a great pleasure. My team pulled this off in just a few days while working on several projects. My vision was to capture the energy and vitality of jazz in the design. Red, the most powerful and erotic color, felt like the only option. Paired with black silk cording and a seductive corset design, then accented with their signature trumpet and microphone, it felt appropriate to these charismatic friends. Jean Jacques, a local French bakery made the petite fours with musical notes and the table top sparkled with sequins and beads. It was a magical effect. The vase was by Steuben.
