DOUG FRATES GLASS
I have always admired glass blowers when visiting Murano, Italy. Their abilities are almost god like as they use intense heat and artistry to transform sand and minerals into an endless array of shapes and colors. When Doug Frates, a talented American glassmaker, invited me to design a few signature pieces for his collection I could not have been more excited. My eros vase was inspired by the phallic forms celebrated in Greek art. I wanted it to feel both erotic, yet minimal and powerful in terms of its strength of color, and Doug brought that vision to life in a manner I still love.
