Writing a blog seems a bit odd given the gravity of this week's events in Paris. Like you, dear readers, I am dismayed by the senseless violence against innocent people enjoying their lives, doing no harm to anyone, but nevertheless falling victims to a hatred that seems illogical and sinister. During times like this I tend to retreat to my room, reading great writers and poets, looking for the more profound meaning of life, and nurturing my soul with meditation, music, memory evocative fragrances, and soothing teas. These simple pleasures certainly don’t solve the horrific problems of the world but they do afford comfort and a small sense of hope that there will always be beauty in the world. I offer here three of my favorite teas from Europe, two from Paris and one from the legendary Fortnum & Mason in London. Here as well is a particularly healing quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Darkness cannot drive our darkness on light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
