A COTTAGE IN HUNT COUNTRY

“I decline to go fox hunting.” - Princess Diana

I agree with Princess Diana, but the opportunity to design a home in the bucolic Virginia landscape was just too tempting to pass up.  Echoing my English roots, I interpreted this grand cottage in the manner of William Morris and Charles Voysey, two of England’s greatest designers. Blending antiques, regional art, and the craftsmanship of cabinetmakers, blacksmiths, glass artisans, and the exceptional furniture makers of North Carolina, the home developed both charm and a quiet stateliness.
